Pebbles from Swakopmund

A few months ago I bought these cabachon gemstones in Swakopmund. At the time I was feeling very ambitious, and had even at one stage blogged about the stones that I would get started on 'soon', but with so many ideas streaming in everyday, the little white stone cases were shifted right to the back of my cupboard.

My husband comes home everyday and sits with me in the studio while I pack away my tools for the day. Its my 'show and tell' time, he is always interested in what I have been working on. Luckily for me, he also keeps track of all my ambitious little purchases ; ). So for a long time he kept asking about the stones and when I was going to get started on them.

This past week I finally dug them out and finished off my cabachon rings!

The rings are 9ct yellow gold with a matt finish.

Happy heart I got them done atlast!

Roadtrip Ring

In one of our long student winter holidays (miss those!), my class friends and I decided to roadtrip to each of our hometowns. We unfortunetely had to skip the Keetmanshoop stop due to it being completely off the route to the other towns. My friend from Keetmans had made a small silver ring that she wore on the roadtrip. It was a simple silver ring with a little half jumpring, to which she tied odd things she collected as the trip went a long. A piece of thread from one of our jerseys, a small shell she picked up in St Francis, a button she had lost somewhere a long the trip... And so the little ring became the roadtrip ring.

I thought of the little ring this past week, and I remebered my friends love of pearls. And so, the little road trip ring, has now become the little Alet ring.

With earrings to match.

Pizza dough and Brass Cut outs

Some pieces develop over time, others are spontaneous ideas and some happen just by chance...

These bangles were a 'by-product' of the necklaces I made with wood beads and red thread. I did the cut outs for the necklaces and realised the pieces would work as bangles. I then combined the brass cut outs with silver.

Very simply put, I suppose it's like making a yummy supper from yesterdays left overs. Big fan of those : ). My brother has a delicious solution for left over pizza dough; yes, you have to make you own pizza dough when you're making real deal homemade pizza's. John's Pizza Frita's. Roll out the dough, cut little squares (bite size). Cook in a pan with a little olive oil until golden, top with hot tomato base (also left over) and mozzarella. Dust with origanum and enjoy! Glass of red wine advised...

Love jewellery and eat pizza : )

I spy with my little eye...

I spy with my little eye... Diamonds!

Teeny tiny, but diamonds none the less.

I couldnt resist just a little bit of sparkle in these earrings.

Now you see them, now you dont.

Two by two

At last a post! I have been relocating from Swakopmund to Windhoek. Inbetween all the packing and unpacking, boxes and newspaper, hot cross buns and hanging up curtains, I completely abandoned the blog. But now I am all set up in Windhoek in our new home. My studio has upgraded from a dark garage space to a teeny tiny room with a view : ). Still working on curtains, but photos will follow soon! Very happy with my new space.

Here are some pieces from I finished off just before the big move. It get this 'two by two' feeling because every ring I made, I did again in 9ct yellow gold. A lot of girls, especially younger girls, always tell me they dont like yellow gold, they prefer silver or white gold. But I think yellow gold with a matt finish is just beautiful! Its so warm, and subdued and golden and just yummy : )

Hope you all enjoy : )
